The common cause
Dust accumulation on the vapor chamber and dried thermal paste between the APU and heatsink. The Series X's vapor chamber is excellent but it can't help if the heat can't get out of the case.
How we repair it
Full teardown, blow out dust with compressed air, deep clean of the heatsink fins and fan, fresh high-performance thermal paste application, reassemble and stress test for 30 minutes.
