Symptoms

How to know it's this fault

  • Press power button — nothing at all
  • Faint blue or white flash then dead
  • Smell of burning or visible smoke (unplug immediately)
  • Was working yesterday, dead today after storm or surge
What's actually wrong

The common cause

Most often it's the PSU — failed capacitors or a blown MOSFET inside the power supply. Less commonly, the power button board has died, or the APU itself is shorted (rare). Australian voltage spikes and unprotected power boards kill more PS5s than anything else.

Our fix

How we repair it

Full bench diagnostic at the workshop (free). PSU repair/replacement is the most common fix — $350 all-in. If the fault is on the power button board, we replace just that board for $149. We always test under load before reassembly to confirm it's stable.
