My console has been in the cupboard for months. What should I check?

Black screen or 'no signal' — is it dead?

Almost never. On PS5 and Xbox Series X the most common cause is a damaged HDMI port, which we replace at board level. The console posts back working, covered by our lifetime workmanship warranty.

No signal

Black screen, TV says no input. Nine times out of ten it's the HDMI port. We replace the port at board level — the single most common repair on our bench.

Won't turn on

No lights, no beep, nothing. Usually a power fault, not a dead console. Board-level diagnosis finds it; most come back to life.
